Why EAT & SIP

Easy and convenient for international visitors

  • 11 Carefully Selected Yamagata Restaurants & Bars

Your ticket is exchanged for a course of the same value. No surprise at the end of the meal. Anything you order on top is simply paid separately.

  • Enjoy our recommended courses without the language barrier

See what you will be served, in photos and in your own language, before you go. You can also filter for restaurants that cater to vegetarians and vegans.

  • Smooth & Worry-Free for Guests, Restaurants & Bars

Not restaurants built for tourists — the long-loved and the quietly excellent, the ones people in Yamagata go back to. The programme has been running since 2020.

Price

You decide how many.

One ticket is ¥3,000. How many you use is what shapes the evening.

Buy from one ticket. How many is entirely up to you.

  • Tickets are used one at a time. Use three at one restaurant, or one at each of three.
  • Anything ordered beyond the listed course is paid separately — tickets cannot be used for it.
  • Receipts are issued only at the point of sale, not at the restaurants.

How it works

Four steps.

  1. Buy

Buy paper tickets at a hotel front desk or a tourist information centre. One ticket is enough.

Opening hours differ between sales points.

  2. Choose

Pick your restaurant and course on this site.

Weekends and holidays fill up. Booking ahead is recommended.

  3. Show

At the restaurant, hand over your tickets and say you are using EAT & SIP.

Each restaurant page has a card in Japanese you can show to the staff.

  4. Enjoy

Enjoy the course that matches the number of tickets you used.

Extra food and drinks are paid for separately on the night.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do the tickets expire?
The expiry date is printed on the ticket. Please check it when you buy.
Do I need a reservation?
It depends on the restaurant. Each restaurant page shows whether booking is required, recommended or unnecessary. Weekends and holidays fill up, so booking ahead is a good idea.
Can I use several tickets at one restaurant?
Yes. Use three at one restaurant for a ¥9,000 course, or one at each of three restaurants. Two people can also use one ticket each on a ¥3,000 course at the same place.
Are there vegetarian, vegan or halal options?
Some restaurants can accommodate them. Use the filters on the restaurant list to show only those that can. "Not confirmed" means we have not yet been able to check — it does not mean no, so please ask the restaurant.
Can I bring children?
It depends on the restaurant. Check the "Children" line on each restaurant page. Some bars do not admit children.
Can I pay by credit card?
Tickets are paper and are paid for at the sales point. For anything you order on top at the restaurant, payment methods differ — check the "Payment" line on the restaurant page. Some places are cash only.
What if the restaurant is full?
Tickets are not tied to any one restaurant. You can simply use them at another participating restaurant — have a look at the list for somewhere nearby.
Can I get a refund?
Please contact the sales point where you bought the tickets. Reselling tickets commercially is not permitted.
Where do I get a receipt?
Receipts are issued only at the sales point where you bought the tickets. Restaurants cannot issue them.
